Our Vision: To create a nature haven to explore, learn and grow.
Ever since we opened the doors to Valley Village Montessori a year ago, we have always had the dream of building a new play yard. Valley Village Montessori is committed to providing children with rich sensorial experiences in the natural world around them. After all, children are innately drawn to nature, and it is this connection to nature that is an integral part of the Montessori philosophy.
Our outdoor play yard is currently limited to only allowing twelve children to play safely at one time, which is why our current schedule has accommodated two play periods. Our hope is to create a new yard to provide our children with the essential space to move their bodies freely, have more opportunities for interacting with nature, and to be together as a whole class at one time.
Specifically, we are envisioning a safely enclosed play space for the children that has ample grass area for carefree running, a spacious sandbox for inquisitive digging, planter boxes for exploratory gardening, a water station for splashing and discovering, a chalkboard canvas for creative expression, and a nature table for examining the world around them. Along with these new materials, there will be durable fencing, a sturdy shade sail, a weather resistant picnic table, plants and a spacious bin with play equipment galore.
This play yard will be a vastly appreciated addition to the rich education that the children are receiving each and every day. It is our sincere hope that you will help us build a beautiful space for the young children in our community that will last for many years to come.
